Observations on Layout mode 2023
I had hoped that 2023 would enable me to overcome the disappearing lines in Layout mode that plague me in 2022. I find, however, that if I open a file created in 2022 in 2023 the same problems exist in layout mode. I do find that if I create new geometry/ solids in that same file 2023 behaves as it should, with lines not disappearing. This is unfortunate because all the files I have created in 2022 cannot be dimensioned properly in 2023. They seem corrupted, in a way, with the disappearing line glitch.
While I am at it, is there a way to make chain select work as it should, or at least how it used to work?

RE:Observations on Layout mode 2023
I have seen some of this as well, but as a curosity what is the instance render mode you are using?
We make our HLRs in model space and by switching the render to wireframe it helped this work better...

RE:Observations on Layout mode 2023
I used HLR in Layout mode for new geometry and it worked fine. For imported geometry wireframe does not make missing lines appear. Are you saying that before going to Layout mode you make your model display in wireframe?
Another oddity I noticed in 2022 was that by starting a Layout via Layout Control, rather than Alt G, things seemed to behave better. I really hope there is a way to make my files created before 2023 dimension properly, although this was not a problem a couple of years ago when things seemed to work fine!

RE:Observations on Layout mode 2023
Yeah we make our HLRs in model space , then create our instances linked to those HLR specific levels, and we switched instance render to wireframe and that fixed several missing line issues we saw... the disappearing lines, aren't disappearing though they are there but for some reason they are the same color as the background... in model space I did a select and saw the missing lines, but for the life of me I don't know where it is pulling the wrong color from, it isn't the HLR command box, and it isn't in the file properties...

Can you please submit a support request and attach a sample file so we can have a look?

RE:Observations on Layout mode 2023
Timothy,

I suggest starting a separate thread about the Chain Select problem you are having. There are a lot of related uses and options that could be impacting the behavior you are seeing. For example, are you talking about "pre-selection" or "feature selection"? What options do you have set in Tools>App Options>Position/Selection>Select?
