Layout mode is primitive
Trying to dimension something in Layout mode, distance between two lines, one line absolutely refuses to be recognized. It is there in Model mode, but any of the tools to grab it do not work, i.e. End point and all similar. Shift ( Near ) does not work. I can go back to model mode and delete and recreate the line and it still refuses to be recognized. Lines immediately next to it, no problem.
Probably a good thing I have never used another program with a decent layout mode, I would be all the more aggravated. I spend hours trying to create drawings that others do in a fraction of the time....
Last time I was critical of KC I gogt kicked off the forum so we will see.

RE:Layout mode is primitive
Timothy,
If you have annual maintenance then contact support and they can look at your file.
If not then send the file to me at the email above. I will get back to you quickly and hold your work in strict confidence.
Usually it is something very simple and obvious once it is known. Don't get mad!

RE:Layout mode is primitive
This may not apply to your particular instance but I find that if I dimension my layouts with the instances in wireframe mode (as is typically suggested) I rarely run into this issue. It seems that in rendered mode there are times when, as you are experiencing, the rendered entities do not want to cooperate.

RE:Layout mode is primitive
I agree that dimensioning in wireframe mode tends to eliminate that problem.

RE:Layout mode is primitive
Hi Tim,
I have come across this many times. Try modify instance > change hidden line rendering / precise hidden line rendering / advanced hidden line rendering.
Bit of a work around.
Cheers,
Alan
