Introductions
Greetings. I'm Mike Dean. I live in SE Wisconsin and work for Lavelle Industries, Inc. (www.lavelle.com), a "major custom rubber molder", as a tool/equipment/product designer. I've been with this company since 1983, and in this position since 1992. I started out using an old DOS program called Generic CADD. Then transitioned to Cadkey in 1997. In 2003 the company decided to switch to Solidworks and gave up the support contract to Cadkey. After talking with the folks at Cadkey Corp, I was able to "take over" that contract and continue to pay it, out of my own pocket, to this day. That's how much I prefer KeyCreator over Solidworks.

RE:Introductions
Couldn't agree more, Mike! Not only is the direct geometry of KeyCreator more efficient in general than the parametrics system used by SolidWorks, but it allows us to import, fix, and actually use (rather than just look at and dimension) files created on ANY 3D CAD system out there.
Cheers,

RE:Introductions
Wow, for a minute there I thought I was reading my own bio! I work for a company in central Ohio called
Mid West Fabricating
, we primarily make large and small diameter parts from wire rod for both Automotive as well as the Lawn and Garden sectors. I've been with Mid West since 1983 and transitioned into my current position (Die Design) in 1993, convnced the company to go with "Cadkey" in 94/95, moved on into KeyCreator and have been able to continue using it ever since. I use NX on and off due to customer requirements but can honestly say that KeyCreator is the MUCH faster product whether starting from scratch or importing and modifying a customers existing model.

RE:Introductions
Hi Guys,
It is good to be back on a REAL KeyCreator Forum again.
I tried posting a few minutes ago but somehow lost the content and then noticed a numeral '1" on the lower left of your previous post kspangler. I hope that is not seen as an abuse report count. If so it was a mistake.
Anyway, I hope to see many more experienced "long time" users like you guys up here just like were regularly on the old webforum.
I have been using, representing, selling and training Cadkey, Draftpak, FastSurf, FastSolids, FastSurf NC, WorkShop and KeyCreator since 1987.
Over the years I have kept a close eye on the MCAD competitors but none come close to CK-KC in Ease of Use + Power-Price-Performance.
I still have customers in their 70's 80's and even one in his 90's using Cadkey - KeyCreator regularly. It gets in your blood doesn't it.
Unfortunately though, I have to say that the KC developers have let their previously excellent levels of technical support slip over the past few years. And that is one of the main reasons why a strong customer based webforum like the the one we have had past 20 years??? and now maybe this one ... is
so
important.
Getting close to retirement, (actually past it in years), but wont be leaving for a while yet, (I hope).
Regards, Barry

RE:Introductions
Man it is nice to see that I am not the only "stubborn" user of Cadkey/Keycreator. I started using a product called Anvil Cad 1000(2D) and 5000(3D) in the early to mid 80's. I started using Cadkey in late 86 and have been steadfastly encouraging my employers or purchasing seats my self ever since. It amazes me that no matter where I work people using any of the other Cad/Cam 3D modeling systems are floored by what can be done with Cadkey/Keycreator in a short period of time but still want to use what they are used to. I have explored and used multiple other software but still keep a seat open of this for rapid response modification and design when needed.
