Variable Chamfers
I am having a problem creating a chamfer.  On the attached (I hope) image I’d like the edge under the blue circle to have chamfer .007” deep, the edge under the red circle to be .015” deep and the edge under the green circle would blend the two together (all 45 degree).

Basically, when milling the edge under the blue circle with a 45 degree cutter you would just go farther into the edge under the red. So the edge under the blue circle would stay constant but gradually widen under the green circle and transform to a wider chamfer under the red circle.  How would I show this?

RE:Variable Chamfers

The way I do it is draw the cutter and its path as a solid using the sweep profile.

Once you have that then do a Boolean subtraction and you will have the actual solid.

I do this for complex air knives that have multiple chamfers with different angles.

RE:Variable Chamfers
Lardo, another way of doing it, is shown in this video I made:
Chamfer

Using the variable radius function. This can be really helpful if the surfaces are contoured rather than flat.

Good !!
A good way to create a variable chamfer.

RE:Variable Chamfers
Thanks Guys. I appreciate the help. And I apologize for not responding sooner. I've been a bit busy the last couple of weeks.

Johann, you're method looks like it would result in the more accurate model. But the video goes by so quickly - and without sound - I'm not sure I getting everything you did. I've watched it a number of times, but I'm still not sure of all the proper steps... in their proper order.

I eventually wound up going with Ken's suggestion. Mainly just because it was quick & easy. Though I'm not absolutely sure the chamfer came out like it will when machined. But I think it's close enough.

Thanks again.

RE:Variable Chamfers
Hmmmm. I couldn't get any at my end. And I know the sound works on my system. Strange. But thanks.
