Doing changes.
A check option should be added to save "master" entities used in complex form (revolve, extrudes, loft, surfaces etc.)

Sending entities to a "hidden level"  we can do changes quickly and avoid "lost" the original entities.

Tools>Application Options>Solidify. Uncheck the "Delete original wireframe geometry" option.

Hi Chris.
I am aware of this check mark in Tool/Options.
Currently are Delete or Leave

I was thinking in a third option.
With a cheking mark into respectively function (mainly surfaces).

When the surface is accepted, saving the originators entities in automatic in a defined level.
