Transferring CDE files from older KeyCreator programs to newer ones of the same iteration.
I upgraded my desktop machine from the infamous Commadore 64 to a Dell Precision 3630 Workstation with Windows 10 (WOW! this stuff actually comes in COLORS? Who knew?) Anyway, because of the new computer I downloaded the 2016 version of KeyCreator and instaled it on the machine. No problems to this point.
I immediately noticed that the newly downloaded version of my old 2016 program had been modiified. Kubotek would probably say they made some bug improvements or whatever. But when I went to use an old CDE tool on a project I noticed it was no longer in the CDE file.
In the old 2016 program you could involke the FlatPipe CDE program from the ADD INS pulldown menu and off to the races you went. Now the file is no longer in the program.
So, I went looking back into my older versions of KeyCreator and found the FlatPipe file snuggly hidden away right where it belongs so I grabbed it and put it into the new iteration of KC 2016 into the CDE folder. BUT, it will not open or operate on a file I am using. How do you get this file to work OR in the alternative, how do I get a KC 2016 program with the FlatPipe file in the CDE folder?
BTW, the FlatPipe file is really handy for splitting and unfolding any pipe or tube to make a development file for LASER/cutting fabrication.
Any help on this problem?
Thanks,

RE:Transferring CDE files from older KeyCreator programs to newer ones of the same iteration.
There was a version of KC in the past where the
Tools
were not automatically installed. Unfortunatly I don't remember the version, though 2016 might be the one.
If that is the case, when you install you have to select the
custom install
and check mark the
Tools
'folder'.
Maybe someone else knows,
Hans

RE:Transferring CDE files from older KeyCreator programs to newer ones of the same iteration.
What actually happens when you try to run it?
Two reasons it might not work: First and most likely, the version of C++ that the CDEs are written in may have changed between the copy you found and the version of KC you're trying to run it in. Or second, the CDE may require other files that are also missing.
I see that FlatPipe is still present in the 2020 version.
