Failure to save file
I had on two occasion on one day the dreaded message "Failure to save file". One of the files were corrupted in that process and could not be re-opened afterwards - luckily only costing me about a day of work since I had updated the file revision name and could revert to a recent version.

I have not had the issue with this version of Keycreator before - it may be that I had something opened to cause this - not sure. Open were Epic Pen and Acrobat and File Explorer. Maybe a Windows update issue?

Years ago a previous version had the similar issue and you had to continually save as a new name to prevent a corrupt file costing you. I hope this is not going to be the case again.

Anyway, I am just putting out the feelers to see if anybody else had the issue?

The file is available if support wants to look at it - maybe they can establish a reason.

RE:Failure to save file
We tend to get this more when we are working and saving to the network server.  When we save locally we do not have a problem.

RE:Failure to save file
I've seen the same "failure to save file" on a few occasions, but it didn't corrupt the file as far as I can tell.

RE:Failure to save file
In my case the file would not open after the issue.

RE:Failure to save file
I have this problem as well. Interestingly after it happened a couple of times in the latest version ok KC I translated the file out to SAT and imported the SAT file into KC9, a version I still use on a regular basis. That same day I had the error occur in KC9, which that never happend before. I suspect this might be a Windows issue.
Whenever I get the error, I resave the file to a different name and it saves without any error. In every case, when that error happens, the file is somehow locked and it won't unlock, until my computer is rebooted.
I work strictly on my desktop, no network dirve here!

RE:Failure to save file
We've got a theory about the cause of this that we've been testing - there has been a change in how preview images are generated in file explorer windows that might be impacting us.

Would you please close any explorer windows you have open (or anything else that might show the saved preview view of a CKD file) before saving and let us know if that makes any difference?

RE:Failure to save file
It doesn't happen a lot, is a matter of fact, since the last Windows update I did, I don't think it happend.
So it will be hard to test for what you are asking.

RE:Failure to save file
I only had it once. A bigger problem for me right now is the slowing down of function execution after saving a large file.

RE:Failure to save file
I have had this failure to save file happen to me many times on two different machines over many versions of KC for several years now. In each case its because the model file exceeded 1.3G in size.  I can replicate this if I want to.  As I design yachts, my file sizes can get very large, tyically exceeding 2G of data. To counter this save issue, I break the files into identical files with identical level lists and keep them below 1G. I preserve the level lists but strip out contents and break the files as "Mechanical" and "Structural".  I'm then able to copy/paste data back & forth as I work both files.  With 16gb+ ram, I can have both files open simultaneously without issue.  Hope this helps.
