PDF with layers
Is there a way to create a PDF with different layers?
This seems to work with other programs.

Hi Roland,

Although somewhat limiting,  a 3D PDF file will give control over the layers and solids within that layer. 

It does not use the layer names that you used but it is still fairly easy to navigate.

Maybe KC can address this in future releases.  Use their new system to put it "on the list".

Yes, a 3D PDF file stores some layer information. Unfortunately, the descriptions are missing and the assignment of the elements is only partially correct.
In my case it is a 2D factory layout. The 3D layout is too big and therefore very slow.
I hope that the export of the PDF file will be revised soon.

In reference to the 3D PDF size being so big.........

One thing I have found that works well for me is just before outputting the 3D PDF, I SAVE! Then, go into:

Top left corner "File" then down to "Properties". Inside properties, I go to "Units/Tolerances"

On the right side I go down to "Solid/Sheet Normal Deviation (Degrees)" and change that to "10"

Then go down to "Edge/Curve Normal Deviation (Degrees)" and change that to 10.  Hit "OK"

(You may have to wait here a bit for the system to re-evaluate the new settings)

Once this is done, immediately output your 3D PDF. It will be almost impossible to tell the difference in quality, but the file size will be significantly smaller. Do NOT save your file at this time. I just exit out and re-load the file so my settings go back to what they were.

thank you for your answer.
I tried your suggestion in a housing.
If I export the 3D PDF with these settings, I get a file with the size of 3,072 KB.
If I export the same housing as STEP and then save it as a 3D PDF with Tetra4D Convertor, I get a file with a size of 179 KB. That's still a big difference.
