I am beginning to wonder if I'm not doing something wrong...

If I create a point(s) in Model Mode it will eventually disappear shortly after being placed, regardless of how much I zoom in. They are just GONE. If I window select or get my cursor close to them when placing something they will highlight but they do not reappear otherwise.
Is this a setting I have somehow mistakenly changed at some point (<--see what I did there?) or something with my display? Is anyone else seeing (or not seeing) this?
