Does anyone use Auto Dimensioning?
Hi all,
some of my jobs have a lot of holes to be dimensioned. I use ordinate dimensioning for that. I tried using the auto dimensioning, though the results are bad, unless I'm doing something wrong.
See the picture (only a test file). As you can see the red, vertical dimensions are the result I'm looking for, except it missed a whole row of circles. The blue, horizontal dimensions not just missed circles, it also it didn't reach down to the bottom line of circles. Below are the settings for the horizontal dimensions, vertical is the same, though I didn't add pictures.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Hans

RE:Does anyone use Auto Dimensioning?
I've never used auto dimensioning, I put dimensions where I want them, not where the program thinks they should be.
Though I do use the hole table function when it gets too busy for ordinate dimensions.

RE:Does anyone use Auto Dimensioning?
Dana,
I like to put my dimensions also where I want them, however when I design molds. sometimes there are as many as 250 ejector pin locations to detail, most of the time 50 plus. My customers do not like hole tables, they want ordinate dimensions.
I'm trying to move to the latest KC, instead of detailing in Cadkey19.
I worte a CDL in Cadkey19 to aid me in "auto dimension" holes, unfortunatly in KC the function call for Ordinate dimensions was eliminated.

I guess I was wrong, the ordinate dimension function still exists within the BaseDim function. I was able to rewrite my old CDL and it works great now.
No need for the Auto Dimensioning anymore :)!

Nope, I don't use this function. Not reliable. I prefer to put dimension myself.

I like to think that some of the features were incorporated in order to silence those who say, "That CAD can't do that" as a sales pitch.

Well, the function does exist, so maybe if there are issues (and there clearly are) they need to be fixed.
