Material Properties
I wish we could go back to simply letting all faces be the colour of the original item, especially with imported parts. Maybe I need instructions on how to automatically get everything into one simple colour per part group apart from having to use the entity material tab and having to highlight the entire item. Discolouring cut faces is just a distraction. It may look nice but apart from that it is unhelpful when you work with complex assemblies. It is parametric thinking. I need freedom to cut and slash without changing face colours. Or do I really need instruction, then I would be much obliged to be enlightened!?

RE:Material Properties
Hello,
You know you can use Edit>Entities>Material>Color to reset multiple or all displayed model very quickly.
Also, in the import options you can chose to translate color face OR use system color. I think you are looking for the later option.
Hope that helps.

RE:Material Properties
You can also use the face tools to reset all the colours to original. I use this all the time when I import step files

RE:Material Properties
Appreciate the feedback. How can I set it up so it will never change a face colour automatically? I understand about the import properties I can set.
This is not in the spirit of freeform modelling, quite frankly! I just want to model and I will decide myself when I am finished, and if I want something to look nice, I will change face colour then. Otherwise we are going back to parametric style.

RE:Material Properties
Anytime you import an outside file, you most likely will have to reset the colors for your particular system. Its unavoidable, yet simple. In the Solid/Surface toolbar select the tools button. Then choose the one that sais Face tools. (it looks like a red.gren and blue radiused edge.) Then, of the 4 options it gives you, select Change the color of faces This will bring up a dialogue box with options. You want the reset bodies to one solid color option. Then select all displayed-all so that everything goes back to a normal, single color. Now, when you slice it (or trim it) it will retain the color that it is. If you Break it, the part opposite of the selected area will either 1.) Change to the selected creation options you have chosen in your settings. or 2.) Stay the same. This is dependent on what you have selected under your Set Configuration Options -Entities for Modifiy Break Options Under Display Set Configuration Options. You can also choose to Match Solid for your Default Cut Color. This will keep your cut faces the same color as the solid you are cutting.I may be explaining everything or most things you already know, but I am including it all just in case it helps Best Wishes, - Jason
