"Smart Windowing"
Is there any way to turn smart windowing off? I want window selection to work as it did in pre 2020 versions. I guess I don't find smart windowing all that smart.

Thanks

If you are using 2020 SP1 or SP2, holding down the Ctrl key will disable this.

Additionally, in 2020 SP2, Tools>Options>Positioning/Selection> Select: "Enable Dynamic Entity Selection" controls this behavior.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried:
Tools>Application Options>Positioning/Selection>Select:

I unchecked Enable Dynamic Entity Selection. All that did is keeps entities from being highlighted as I window right to left. It still selects any entity that has any part inside the window. Unlike pre 2020 where only entities entirely in the window would be selected.

Also the Ctrl has the same effect.

Any other ideas?

RE:"Smart Windowing"
Depending on the "drag direction" it should only be selecting entites entirely in the window.

Are you saying this isn't the case?

That is how it's working currently in 2020 SP1 & SP2. Previous versions "drag direction" didn't matter. This was preferable (my opinion). I hate to be the guy who doesn't like what others consider an enhancement but I really dislike "smart windowing". I want be able to drag a window left or right and select only entities completely within the window (without extra clicks). This is how window selection had worked as long as I can remember.

RE:"Smart Windowing"
Shaun, the simple answer to your original question is no. There is no option switch to go back to having “modeless” right-to-left window selection work the way it did before KeyCreator 2020.
The behavior of the Window options in the Universal Selection Menu have not changed in 2020 (and probably never will). The explicit Window modes (All In, Part In, All Out, Part Out) ignore the direction in which the window was defined. If you always want All In behavior your choices are to always window select left-to-right or choose the “All In” menu option (F3, F1).
We get that changes like this are little frustrating for long-time users because they require some re-learning (depending on usage habits). We generally avoid making changes like that in KeyCreator. In this case we concluded that 2020 was time to adopt this established industry-norm right-to-left “part-in” selection behavior. It’s a clever way to provide quick access to “part-in” style selection and something new users expect.

Looks like I'll be using F3 a lot.

It seems like this should be a application option. Those who like it can use it. Those who feel like I do about it can turn it off.
