KC14.5: "Not Responding"
Has anyone else noticed this message? I am frequently having the program "pause" for no apparent reason during use.
Obviously I notice it most when I begin a function (any) such as zoom window or switching to model mode but I have encountered it when simply hitting Esc to clear a function. Typically I click a function and nothing happens initially and after a couple of seconds KC's version of the hourglass appears and "Not Responding" shows up in the program title bar. After several (10-15) seconds the program "recovers" and goes back to normal but this seems to occur a LOT and it's starting to be very cumbersome.
I do use the Autosave feature but that prompts me with a window so unless there is an Autosave occuring that I am not made aware of this issue is not related.

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
This is REALLY getting annoying. So am I to assume by the lack of responses that no one else is having this problem?

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
There are now three of us experiencing this same issue on three different computer builds and we have discovered that it is only appearing in Layout Mode. KC will typically freeze/hang as if it is "thinking" and will usually recover but it does occasionally crash, especially if the user does not realize it is froze and continues to click function buttons. I have reported this to Support but I was told that no one else has reported seeing this issue. If anyone does encounter this issue feel free to add your thoughts.

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
We're having the same problem on 3 different machine builds with I7 processors. We also see it in Layout only and is easily triggered by circling the cursor around to have it highlight different entities/instances until the highlighting stops - about 3 seconds worth. What we've done is uncheck ENABLE DYNAMIC ENTITY SELECTION under CONFIGURATION OPTIONS - POSITIONING/SELECTION - SELECT, this will toggle the CTRL key to enable dynamic selection rather than disable (default). Certainly less convenient but much less frustrating than waiting the 15-20 seconds for the system to catch up. Of course you can still just click on your entity without the CTRL-pre-select and sometimes you'll get the instance instead but at least the option is there without the constant freezing.

Hopefully they'll have a fix soon.

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
You nailed it! As a test I turned this off and did as you suggested, moving the mouse and highlighting instances with no problems. I then clicked it back on and repeated the process. This time the screen froze almost immediately, giving me the same issue as I reported. Turning it back off again (after the program responded!) eliminates the issue. Hopefully this will help them find and fix the issue.
Thanks!

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
Hi guys. I think I may have stumbled across something else. Can you please go to Tools>Application Options>Display>Graphics Card and turn on your Quickmove for highlighting setting? I haven’t seen a lag since I checked this option.

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
Hi Keith and Steve,

Did you try setting your driver type to Hardware Open GL?  That setting gave me stability while others did not .

We learned through many releases that the video driver setting is critical to peformance.  Also what was good before may not be good with a new release or windows / hardware upgrade.

Hope that helps,

Mike

RE:KC14.5: "Not Responding"
Thanks Mike,
Same here, tried all the different settings under "Graphics Card" with no change in the way the system became unresponsive.

Last week Chris stated that the issue has been "logged with development".
