RE:Taking a surface from a Solid
You can extract a face from a solid using this tool and selecting unstitch face.  Becareful on the options you pick as it could leave the solid part an open solid because the face has been unhooked.

RE:Taking a surface from a Solid

Give the man a Kewpie Doll. It did not work the first time but it did on the second attempt?????

However, the  SHEET model came out from the process in a segmented form. I had to BOOLEAN UNITE the segments in order to BREAK the surface model in half (from the top CP) and get it to unfold. No big deal, as they say, tell me the rules and I'll play the game. However, I am now really flustered as to how I managed to get to the SAME place with your recommendation but a totally different pathway.

They never found that missing aviator Amelia Earhart and this mystery may go down in the same inglorious way.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Maybe you can guide me on how to post a CKD file.
