Display light and intensity
Most of the time, I found myself changing the light direction (View-Advance Render-Light Direction) to the "default" settings. I think it results in a better rendering but makes perpendicular flat surfaces look very bright. This can be overcome by setting the light intensity to 1.5 or 2.0. I just think this is a better way to render 3D models; it's more in line with other CAD software as well.
My 2 cents.

RE:Display light and intensity
Francis,
Thanks for bringing up this topic. I dug into the issue you've brought up and agree that the 2019 default setting (in the CKT files) does not balance shading well between the isometic views and the "head-on" planar faces in orthographic views.
I found that a camera light direction of 5, 1, -3 helped reduce the washed-out bright or too dark conditions better than the CKT default or the "factory" default. The results still feel a little too dark.
For KeyCreator 2020 we are looking at changing the CKT settings to 5. 1, -3. We are also considering adding more ambient light to the camera light so that head on faces are closer to their true color. Let me know what you think.
Best,
John

RE:Display light and intensity
I finally got around to using these settings. Much better. The question is how can I save them to my template file so they will be there when I start a new project?
Thanks,
Tim

RE:Display light and intensity
To access the light direction setting use the menu option View>Advanced Render>Light Direction.
Those settings will save to your CKD or CKT file.
