Francis,
Thanks for bringing up this topic. I dug into the issue you've brought up and agree that the 2019 default setting (in the CKT files) does not balance shading well between the isometic views and the "head-on" planar faces in orthographic views.
I found that a camera light direction of 5, 1, -3 helped reduce the washed-out bright or too dark conditions better than the CKT default or the "factory" default. The results still feel a little too dark.
For KeyCreator 2020 we are looking at changing the CKT settings to 5. 1, -3. We are also considering adding more ambient light to the camera light so that head on faces are closer to their true color. Let me know what you think.
