RE:SpaceExplorer and KC
This probably won't be of any significant help but I have a similar problem with my Space Pilot and I have yet to narrow down the cause but it seems to occur when I plug in my Space Pilot after starting KeyCreator. The fix for me is closing KeyCreator, unplugging the controller (and/or removing the USB device via the icon in the Taskbar) and waiting a moment then plugging it back in and restarting KeyCreator in that order.
This usually fixes it so I feel it must be related to the USB connection and/or drivers not being recognized before KeyCreator starts but regardless of the cause it results in the same issue you seem to have; my controller is so sensitive that I cannot even touch it until I do the aforementioned steps. This occasionally happens if my controller gets unplugged during KeyCreator use and If I recall correctly there was once a time when I had to insure that my Space Pilot was plugged in prior to starting my computer so that the drivers would load correctly but per the instructions above I have not had to do that in awhile.

RE:SpaceExplorer and KC
Thanks for the suggestion but after trying that it did not work either.  My computer is shut down every night and restarted in the morning with the Controller plugged in.  I do get a very small reduction of sensitivity when I move the sliders to the left but not enough to make it usable in KeyCreator.  I had a friend try it with his Solidworks and it works just fine for him.  I still think the problem is with KC.  I did contact 3D Connexion and they gave me some suggestions to try that didn't help and they concluded that the unit was not compatible with KC and couldn't help me any further.   KC support has been helpful but they couldn’t find a solution either.  I put it back in storage for now until a new version of KC is released and then give it another try.

RE:SpaceExplorer and KC
I have had the same issue with speed in KC. Like others I had to slow mine down all the way also.
