Just a little persistence, that's all it took. (And nearly 15 years.) Light Sport makes it a bit more affordable, since you only need half the hours (20 minimum) that a private pilot's license takes. Plus you don't need the 3rd class medical.

Ercoupes don't come up for rental very often. This was quite rare. so I took advantage of it while I could. If you watch the ads on "Branstomers" they do come up for sale quite regularly. But I just can't afford it right now. A good one, that qualifies for Light Sport ('C' or 'C/D' model) generally run anywhere from low 20's to mid 30's. That, along with the cost of hangar rental and other fixed costs, puts it a bit out of my range. Unless, of course, I can find a sugar-momma. :)
