It seems I should clarify where are the “significant Improved Speed & Performance” that started in SP0 & SP1.  Specifically, the improvements were made to DISPLAY PERFORMANCE in framerate speed & display speed.  Areas affected by these improvements were:

• Opening files improved by display speed, not loading time. 
• Speed of changing views
• Dynamic view rotation
• Saving files.

More & more of you are working regularly with larger data files.  Those of you with large files & large number of faces will see the most noticeable improvements in spinning big models & displaying large amounts of faces. The more faces the bigger the gains.  Your numbers will vary depending on geometry & hardware.  Those of you who do not work regularly with these large data models would not have seen a significant change. 
Unfortunately, displaying many levels at one time or levels with large amounts of data was adversely affected.  This was due in part to display architecture changes to improve framerate performance.  In SP2, we have tried to better balance the 2 conflicting requirements level display speed or frame rate speed.  This adjustment has worked based on our tests & comments from beta sites & partners.
